British Prime Minister Rishi Sunak will emphasize the need to address the risks of artificial intelligence (AI) in order to fully reap its benefits. Sunak aims to position Britain as a global leader in AI safety and is organizing the first global AI Safety Summit on November 1-2 at Bletchley Park. The summit aims to build an international consensus on the safe development of AI. The agenda will cover topics such as the unpredictable advances of AI and the potential loss of human control. Sunak will highlight the economic growth and problem-solving capabilities of AI while acknowledging the new dangers and fears it presents. The UK government will release a report on “frontier” AI to inform discussions on risks associated with its use. Notable guests include US Vice President Kamala Harris and Google DeepMind CEO Demis Hassabis. China and European Commission Vice President Vera Jourova are also expected to attend. The G7 economies have previously called for the adoption of standards to ensure trustworthy AI.
