UN Creates Advisory Body on Artificial Intelligence Governance

The United Nations Secretary-General, António Guterres, has announced the establishment of a 39-member advisory body to address the international governance of artificial intelligence (AI). This initiative aims to bring together tech company executives, government officials, and academics from around the world to tackle the challenges posed by AI. Representatives from countries such as the United States, Russia, and Japan, as well as executives from companies like Sony, OpenAI, and Microsoft, are included in the advisory body. The UN body will work towards building global consensus on risks and challenges related to AI and strengthening international cooperation on AI governance. The first meeting of the advisory body is scheduled for October 27.
