Tensions between the United States and China over technology will slow down the global chip industry, according to Morris Chang, the founder of Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Co (TSMC). Speaking at an event in New York, Chang said that cutting off China’s chip industry from the rest of the world would impact other players as well. He expressed concern that the current geopolitical tension could potentially escalate into something more serious, and emphasized his optimism about the United States, where TSMC is investing in building chipmaking facilities in Arizona. Chang, who is considered a legendary figure in the chip industry, became a naturalized citizen of the United States in 1962.
