Seiko Epson Inc., a leading printing giant, is shifting its focus towards the Middle East and Africa to drive growth, as demand declines in Japan and other developed markets. The company experienced a surge in sales during the COVID-19 pandemic due to increased demand for personal printers as more people worked from home. However, Epson foresees long-term stagnation in mature markets as populations decline and digitalization continues to grow. In an effort to find growth in developed markets, Epson plans to target commercial and industrial customers looking to reduce waste. One example is their PaperLab machines that recycle used office paper to make blank sheets. The company aims to expand the use of environmentally friendly products, despite the current higher operating cost.
