KUALA LUMPUR – TikTok, the popular social media platform, has responded to allegations from the Malaysian government claiming that it was blocking pro-Palestinian content. In an email statement to Reuters, a TikTok spokesperson stated that these allegations are “unfounded.” They asserted that TikTok’s community guidelines are applicable to all content and that the platform is dedicated to consistently enforcing its policies to protect its community. Malaysia had previously warned of potential action against TikTok and Meta, another social media firm, stating that their platforms were restricting content supporting Palestinians. Meta also denied the claims, stating that there was “no truth” to them and that it was not intentionally suppressing voices on its Facebook platform.
