Tata Group, a prominent Indian conglomerate, is set to begin assembling Apple iPhones in India after acquiring Wistron Corp’s Indian manufacturing unit. The sale, which is estimated to be worth $125 million, was approved by the Wistron board. This move by Tata signifies Apple’s efforts to shift some production away from China. Apple has been eyeing India as a significant growth driver, and the company initiated iPhone assembly in the country in 2017 through collaborations with Wistron, Foxconn, and Pegatron Corp.
