Smartphone sales in China declined by 5% in the third quarter of this year compared to the same period in 2020, reflecting a slowing economy and cautious consumers delaying phone upgrades. The top five smartphone brands in China all experienced declining or flat sales, with Vivo seeing the steepest drop at 26%. Honor, which was formerly Huawei’s smartphone brand, took the first place in China with a market share of 18%. Apple maintained its ranking thanks to the launch of the iPhone 15 series. Huawei’s market share increased in China due to strong demand for its new Mate 60 products, which feature domestically made chips.
