Broadcom Corp expects its $69 billion acquisition of VMware to close before the November deadline, according to an announcement by the two companies. China’s approval for the deal is still pending, causing investor concerns. The State Administration of Market Regulation (SAMR) in China is likely to delay its decision due to the introduction of stricter chip controls by the US administration. Despite this, Broadcom and VMware stated that there are no legal impediments to the deal closing under US merger regulations. The deal has received approval from various other jurisdictions, including the European Union, Australia, Canada, Japan, and others. Broadcom’s acquisition of VMware is its largest ever and is aimed at diversifying into enterprise software.
