BP’s electric vehicle charger unit is purchasing $100 million worth of Tesla ultra-fast chargers for deployment in the US. This marks the first time Tesla’s chargers will be used on an independent network. The move is part of BP Pulse’s $1 billion investment plan to expand charging stations across the US by 2030. The collaboration provides Tesla with a new revenue stream and the opportunity to broaden its fast-charging hardware services. The initial rollout of chargers will take place in cities including Houston, Phoenix, Los Angeles, Chicago, and Washington. The chargers will be compatible with both Tesla’s NACS and CCS connectors, allowing the charging of EV models from other car manufacturers.
