EU industry chief Thierry Breton has launched investigations into three tech platforms, including Elon Musk’s X, over their content moderation decisions. This comes as tech giants face increasing scrutiny for allowing harmful content and disinformation to spread. Under the EU’s Digital Services Act, large tech platforms and search engines are required to take action against illegal content and protect public security. Breton has not disclosed the names of the other two platforms being investigated but stated that they could potentially face temporary bans if necessary.
